New numbing technique tested to ease pain of hospital catheter procedure

NCT ID NCT07299383

Summary

This study tested whether a specific local anesthesia technique called WALANT could reduce pain and increase comfort during the placement of a central venous catheter (CVC), a common but often painful hospital procedure. Researchers compared WALANT against the standard lidocaine injection in 64 adult patients. The main goal was to see if the WALANT method caused less pain for patients during and after the catheter was inserted.
