New heart catheter matches gold standard in VT study

NCT ID NCT06028919

First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tested two types of catheters used to treat ventricular tachycardia (VT), a life-threatening fast heart rhythm. 61 adults with VT received either a newer Diamond Temp catheter or the standard Tacticath/Tactiflex catheter. The goal was to see if the newer catheter works just as well and is as safe as the current standard. Results will help doctors choose the best tool to reduce VT episodes and painful shocks from defibrillators.
