Summary

This study tests whether giving high-risk veterans a trained peer sponsor plus extra mental health care helps them adjust to civilian life and lowers suicide risk. About 2,700 veterans leaving the Army will be assigned to usual care, a peer sponsor, or a sponsor plus targeted VA services. The goal is to see which approach works best for reintegration and preventing suicidal thoughts or behaviors.
