Virtual reality headsets tested as new treatment for winter blues

NCT ID NCT07161570

Summary

This study aims to see if using a virtual reality (VR) headset can help reduce symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (winter depression) as effectively as the standard bright light therapy. Researchers will recruit 60 UK adults with moderate to severe symptoms and randomly assign them to use either a VR device for 10 minutes or a light box for 30 minutes each morning for two weeks. The goal is to compare changes in mood and depressive symptoms between the two groups to determine if VR could be a useful new treatment option.
