Virtual reality tackles painful condition

NCT ID NCT06923306

Summary

This study is testing whether virtual reality (VR) exposure therapy can help people with vaginismus, a condition where fear causes involuntary pelvic muscle tightening, making penetration painful or impossible. Twenty participants will use VR to gradually face their fears in a safe, simulated environment, aiming to reduce anxiety and improve ease of insertion. The goal is to see if this high-tech approach can offer a new, accessible treatment option, especially for those who struggle with traditional at-home exercises.
