NCT ID NCT07546305

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study will test whether letting children wear a VR headset or play games on a tablet during urinary catheterization can reduce their fear and distress. 90 children aged 6 to 16 will be randomly assigned to VR, tablet, or standard care. Researchers will measure behaviors like crying and resistance to see if the digital distractions help.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Virtual Reality headset and tablet-based games

What this could lead to

If it works, this could give hospitals a simple, drug-free way to help children feel less scared and upset during a common medical procedure.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study (90 children) that hasn't started yet. The distraction methods may not reduce distress for all children, and results may not apply to other procedures or hospitals.
