Virtual gloves help nurses learn key skill, but not bedside manner

NCT ID NCT07322536

Summary

This study tested whether training with virtual reality (VR) gloves could help intensive care nurses better perform a procedure called aspiration, which involves clearing a patient's airway. Sixty nurses were split into two groups: one practiced with VR gloves, and the other used standard training mannequins. The results showed that while VR helped nurses learn the technical steps of the procedure, it did not significantly improve their overall caregiving behaviors, like showing respect or providing reassurance.
