First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at whether virtual reality (VR) glasses or watching a video on a screen could help children aged 7 to 12 feel less pain, fear, and stress when getting an IV needle. Sixty-six children in a hospital emergency department were split into three groups: one used VR glasses, one watched a video on a screen, and one received standard care. The results showed that both the VR and video groups had lower pain and fear scores compared to the standard care group.
