Virtual reality headsets tested as new painkiller for seniors in ER

NCT ID NCT06685107

Summary

This study is testing whether using a virtual reality (VR) headset along with standard pain medication helps seniors (age 65+) feel less pain and anxiety when they come to the emergency room with sudden muscle or bone pain. About 180 patients will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care alone or standard care plus a VR session. Researchers will measure pain and stress levels to see if the VR experience provides extra relief.
