First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study tested whether teaching patients with virtual reality (VR) glasses, instead of standard methods, improves their ability to care for themselves after bariatric surgery. Sixty adults who had weight-loss surgery were split into two groups: one received discharge training using VR glasses, the other got usual care. Researchers measured self-care skills and side effects like nausea before and after the VR session, and followed up for three months. The goal was to see if VR education makes a difference in patients' recovery and self-management.
