Scientists test VR meditation and quick brain zaps to soothe deep distress
NCT ID NCT05061745
Summary
This study is testing two non-drug methods to help people struggling with dysphoria—a deep sense of unease or dissatisfaction that can occur with mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, or chronic pain. Researchers will see if guided meditation using a virtual reality headset or a faster version of a brain stimulation treatment (TMS) can reduce symptoms and improve quality of life. The goal is to find new, practical options that require less time or medical resources than current treatments.
