New pill may replace painful tube test for chronic heartburn
NCT ID NCT07437768
First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a stronger acid-blocking drug called vonoprazan can help diagnose the cause of persistent heartburn in people who didn't get relief from standard medications. About 100 adults with ongoing symptoms will take vonoprazan and fill out symptom questionnaires. The goal is to see if a good response to the drug means acid reflux is the real problem, potentially avoiding the need for uncomfortable monitoring tests.
