New pill tested to calm uncontrollable voice spasms

NCT ID NCT03292458

Summary

This study tested whether an oral medication called sodium oxybate could reduce the involuntary voice spasms and tremors of spasmodic dysphonia. Researchers enrolled 117 adults with the condition to compare the drug's effects against a placebo. The goal was to see if this pill could offer a new, easier treatment option compared to repeated injections.
