Smart speakers tested to fight loneliness in Parkinson's patients
NCT ID NCT06036771
Summary
This small pilot study explored whether using a voice-activated smart assistant (like Amazon Alexa or Google Home) could help improve mental well-being and reduce loneliness for people living with Parkinson's disease. For 8 weeks, half of the 48 participants received a device and training to use it for daily tasks and connection, while the other half received their usual care. The main goal was to see if the approach was feasible and if it showed early signs of helping people feel more in control and less isolated.
