Gene therapy takes aim at Hard-to-Treat HER2 cancers
NCT ID NCT07192432
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests a new gene therapy called VNX-202 for people with HER2-positive solid tumors. The therapy uses a harmless virus to deliver instructions that help the body's immune cells attack cancer. The trial has two parts: one for advanced cancers that have stopped responding to standard treatments, and another for early-stage cancers at high risk of coming back. Researchers will monitor safety and whether the treatment controls tumor growth.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
VNX-202 gene therapy (a virus that delivers instructions to make cancer-fighting immune proteins)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for people with HER2-positive cancers that have stopped responding to other therapies.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, first-in-human study with only 27 participants. The therapy may not shrink tumors or could cause serious side effects. Success in early-stage disease is not guaranteed.
