Can a radiation boost help fight pancreatic cancer?
NCT ID NCT07242911
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether giving a higher dose of radiation (60-65 Gy) using a precise technique called VMAT can help people with inoperable pancreatic cancer live longer and keep their tumors under control compared to the standard lower dose (45-50.4 Gy). Researchers will follow 30 patients who already received VMAT as part of their care, tracking survival, tumor response, and side effects. The goal is to find a safer, more effective radiation approach for this hard-to-treat cancer.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) radiation
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a higher radiation dose improves survival and tumor shrinkage for people with inoperable pancreatic cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early observational study, not a randomized trial. Results may not apply broadly, and higher radiation could increase side effects.
