Could a simple gum fluid test catch implant disease early?

NCT ID NCT07280754

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at levels of vitamin D and a natural germ-fighting protein called LL-37 in the fluid around dental implants. Researchers want to see if these levels can help spot early signs of gum disease around implants, like inflammation or bone loss. The study will include 72 adults aged 18-65 who have had implants for at least a year. By finding new biomarkers, this work could lead to earlier treatment and lower costs for patients.
