Tiny patch could keep kids out of the ICU

NCT ID NCT04627766

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study checks if a small, sticky chest patch can accurately track heart rate, breathing, oxygen, and temperature in children who have left the intensive care unit. About 48 kids will wear the patch for 8 hours while their standard monitors run, so researchers can compare the two. If the patch works well, it could help doctors spot problems early and prevent kids from needing to return to the ICU.
