Tiny patch could keep kids out of the ICU
NCT ID NCT04627766
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study is testing a small, sticky chest patch (VT-Patch) that continuously monitors heart rate, breathing, oxygen levels, and temperature in children in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The goal is to see if the patch works as well as the standard hospital monitors, so that one day it could be used to watch kids after they leave the PICU and catch early signs of trouble. About 48 children will wear the patch for 8 hours while their vital signs are compared to the usual monitoring system.
