First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving free reading or distance glasses to older adults in rural areas can slow down memory and thinking problems. About 964 people aged 60 to 79 with poor eyesight but normal hearing and memory will take part. Half will get glasses, and the other half will not. Researchers will check their thinking skills over three years to see if better vision helps keep the mind sharp.
