Engineered virus injected into tumors to fight advanced colon cancer

NCT ID NCT05733611

Summary

This study tested a new combination treatment for advanced colorectal cancer that has stopped responding to standard therapies. It involved directly injecting a genetically engineered virus into tumors to kill cancer cells and boost the immune system, while also giving two other drugs that help block cancer's blood supply and immune evasion. The trial was for patients whose cancer had spread and was no longer controlled by common chemotherapy drugs.
