Fighting viruses with donor cells: new hope for transplant patients

NCT ID NCT03665675

Summary

This early-phase study is testing whether specially prepared immune cells from a donor can safely help fight two specific viruses (CMV or adenovirus) in people who have had a stem cell or organ transplant. The treatment is for patients whose infections aren't responding well to standard antiviral medications. Researchers will give these 'virus-fighting' cells to about 20 participants and closely monitor their safety and how well the viruses are controlled.
