Virtual reality and stress balls tested to calm kidney stone patients

NCT ID NCT07265960

First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using virtual reality (watching nature scenes with relaxing music) or squeezing a stress ball can help patients feel less fear, pain, and anxiety before and after a ureteroscopy (a procedure to treat kidney stones). About 90 adults will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: virtual reality, stress ball, or standard care. The goal is to see if these simple, drug-free methods improve patient comfort and satisfaction.
