Robots and VR join the fight against muscle disease

NCT ID NCT06968819

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested whether a virtual reality-based robot-assisted training program could improve muscle strength and reduce psychological distress in people with inflammatory myopathy, a group of muscle diseases causing weakness. Thirty-three adults were split into two groups: one did standard physical therapy, the other trained on robotic devices with VR feedback for 4-6 weeks. The goal was to see if the high-tech approach leads to better recovery than traditional exercises.
