First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether virtual reality (VR) can improve movement in elderly people with Psychomotor Disadaptation Syndrome, a condition that affects balance and walking. Fifty hospitalized patients will either receive standard rehab or VR sessions three times a week. The goal is to see if VR makes rehab more effective and engaging.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

virtual reality rehabilitation sessions

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a more engaging and effective way to help elderly patients regain mobility and reduce fall risk.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 50 participants, so results may not apply widely. VR may not be better than standard exercises and could cause discomfort or dizziness in some patients.
