Virtual reality nature walks tested to boost mood in elderly care

NCT ID NCT06586489

Summary

This study tested whether watching virtual nature scenes could help improve the mental and physical well-being of older adults living in long-term care facilities. Researchers had 101 residents either watch nature videos on a tablet, experience them in virtual reality (VR), or receive their usual care for 10 minutes, three times a week, over eight weeks. They measured changes in relaxation, stress, mood, and basic health signs to see if this simple activity could make a meaningful difference in residents' quality of life.
