Fighting viruses with a Donor's supercharged immune cells

NCT ID NCT02048332

Summary

This study is testing a new treatment for serious viral infections that can happen after a stem cell transplant. Researchers take virus-fighting white blood cells from the transplant donor, grow them in a lab, and give them to the patient if an infection occurs. The goal is to provide a more targeted treatment with fewer side effects than standard antiviral medicines.
