First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study took leftover tissue from 100 patients having surgery for vestibular schwannoma (a non-cancerous brain tumor) and used it to grow tiny 3D tumor models called organoids in the lab. The goal was to create a living biobank to study why these tumors resist treatment. No new treatments were tested—this was purely for understanding the disease better.
