Virtual stethoscope training boosts student confidence in detecting heart and lung sounds

NCT ID NCT07559422

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using a Ventriloscope, a stethoscope simulator that plays recorded heart and lung sounds, helps physical therapy and athletic training students learn better than traditional teaching alone. About 60 graduate students will take part, and their knowledge, sound recognition skills, and confidence will be tested over five months. The goal is to see if this extra practice improves their ability to identify normal and abnormal sounds and if they retain those skills two months later.
