New test aims to get patients off ventilators faster and safer

NCT ID NCT07372664

Summary

This study is testing a new measurement tool called the Volume-Velocity Index (VVI) to see if it can better predict when a patient is ready to stop using a mechanical ventilator. Researchers will observe 100 patients in multiple hospitals who are already considered ready to try breathing on their own. The goal is to validate if this tool can accurately tell which patients will succeed, helping them get off the ventilator sooner and avoid complications.
