Summary

This study looked at how to prevent breathing muscle weakness in children who need a breathing machine (ventilator). It tested a computer program called REDvent that adjusts the ventilator to keep the child's breathing effort normal. The goal was to see if this approach could help children get off the ventilator faster. The study involved 248 children with lung problems and compared REDvent to standard care.
