First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether a probiotic called VE818 can reduce harmful bacteria in the gut of pregnant women and improve gut health. About 144 pregnant women in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Zambia, and Burkina Faso will take part. They will first receive an antibiotic (vancomycin) and then either VE818 or a placebo. The goal is to see if VE818 helps clear bad bacteria and supports better nutrition for the mother and baby.
