NCT ID NCT07172360

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This phase 3 trial tests whether VC005 tablets can reduce symptoms of active ankylosing spondylitis, a type of arthritis that mainly affects the spine. About 420 adults aged 18 to 70 will receive either VC005 or a placebo for 48 weeks. The main goal is to see how many achieve a 20% improvement in disease activity after 12 weeks.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

VC005 tablets

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a new oral treatment option to control symptoms and slow disease progression in people with active ankylosing spondylitis.

What could go wrong

This is still an experimental drug. Phase 3 trials can fail to show enough benefit or reveal unexpected side effects. The results may not apply to all patients.
