Spinal zap to save brain? tiny trial tests nerve stimulation for deadly artery spasm
NCT ID NCT05150002
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looked at whether stimulating the spinal cord in the neck could help relax narrowed brain arteries after a severe type of stroke called a subarachnoid hemorrhage. The condition is life-threatening, and current treatments are limited. The trial was planned as a small proof-of-concept study but was stopped early after enrolling only 1 person, so no meaningful conclusions can be drawn.
