Heart surgery drug trial aims to stop kidney failure

NCT ID NCT05568160

Summary

This study is testing whether using the drug vasopressin to maintain blood pressure after heart surgery is better at preventing kidney failure or death than the standard drug, noradrenaline. It involves 840 adults at high risk for kidney problems who are having planned heart surgery using a heart-lung machine. Patients are randomly assigned to receive one of the two drugs, and neither they nor their doctors know which one they are getting.
