Cervical injection may boost success of uterine surgery

NCT ID NCT07102615

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether injecting vasopressin into the cervix helps doctors completely remove pregnancy tissue left in the uterus after miscarriage, abortion, or delivery. About 50 women will be randomly assigned to receive either vasopressin or a placebo (saline) during a hysteroscopic procedure. The main goal is to see if vasopressin leads to more successful removals and less bleeding.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

vasopressin

What this could lead to

If it works, this could make surgery for retained pregnancy tissue more effective and reduce bleeding.

What could go wrong

This is a small early-phase trial with only 50 participants, so results may not apply widely. Vasopressin can cause side effects like changes in blood pressure or heart rate.
