New heart device takes on irregular rhythm in head-to-head trial

NCT ID NCT07523750

First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests a new catheter called VARIPULSE against an already-approved one (FARAWAVE) for people with persistent atrial fibrillation, a condition where the heart beats irregularly for over a week. About 466 participants will receive one of the two treatments to see which is safer and better at restoring normal heart rhythm. The goal is to control the condition, not cure it, as ongoing management may still be needed.
