New heart procedure tested against leading device in 466-patient trial

Summary

This study compares a new catheter (VARIPULSE) to an approved one (FARAWAVE) for treating persistent atrial fibrillation, a condition where the heart beats irregularly for over a week. About 466 adults with this condition will be randomly assigned to one of the two procedures. The goal is to see which device is safer and more effective at restoring normal heart rhythm and improving quality of life.
