New surgical technique tested to improve male fertility treatment

NCT ID NCT07306572

Summary

This study compared two surgical techniques for treating varicocele, a condition of enlarged veins in the scrotum that is a common cause of male infertility. Sixty men were randomly assigned to have surgery using either a surgical microscope (the current standard) or magnifying loupes with a special medication to help the surgeon see better. The goal was to see if the newer, simpler loupe method was as safe and effective as the microscope method at improving sperm health.
