Simpler antibiotic dosing may be just as effective for MRSA
NCT ID NCT04793152
First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tests whether a simpler method of dosing the antibiotic vancomycin works as well as the current standard for treating serious MRSA infections. The simpler method targets a specific blood level (trough level), while the standard method uses a more complex calculation (AUC/MIC). About 700 adults with serious MRSA infections will be randomly assigned to one of the two dosing strategies. The main goal is to see if the simpler method is not worse at preventing treatment failure, including death or persistent infection, within 90 days.
