First seen Nov 10, 2025 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether swabbing the noses of healthy C-section-born babies with their mother's vaginal secretions can safely change the bacteria in their upper airways. Twenty babies will be randomly assigned to get either the real swab or a sterile sham swab. The main goal is to see if a larger trial is possible and if the procedure is safe.
