Could a simple swab give C-Section babies a healthier start?

NCT ID NCT05505110

Summary

This study is testing whether a procedure called 'vaginal seeding' is safe and practical to study. Vaginal seeding involves gently swabbing a baby's nose with a sample from the mother's vagina shortly after a C-section birth. The goal is to see if this can change the community of bacteria in the baby's nose to be more like that of babies born vaginally. The study will enroll 20 healthy babies to check if future, larger studies on this topic are possible.
