Quick vaginal infection tests may boost treatment accuracy

NCT ID NCT06438575

First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether using a rapid point-of-care test (like a COVID-19 test) helps doctors diagnose vaginal infections more accurately than usual care. About 351 people with vaginal symptoms took part. Half got standard diagnosis and treatment, while the other half had their doctor use a quick test. Researchers checked if the treatment matched CDC guidelines and followed up after two weeks to see if symptoms improved and if patients were satisfied.
