Zap the vagus nerve, skip the tube? new study aims to ease Post-Surgery pain

NCT ID NCT06648759

Summary

This study is testing if a non-invasive device that stimulates a nerve in the neck can help patients recover from a common surgery complication called postoperative ileus. The goal is to see if this stimulation can reduce the need for an uncomfortable nasogastric tube, which is often used to relieve stomach pressure. Researchers will enroll 60 adults who develop this complication after major abdominal surgery at a single hospital.
