NCT ID NCT06841679
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new chemotherapy drug called utidelone, given as a capsule, together with standard chemotherapy for people with advanced stomach or gastroesophageal junction cancer that has not been treated before. The trial will enroll about 778 participants across multiple countries. Researchers want to see if the combination helps people live longer and shrinks tumors, while also checking for side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Utidelone capsule (a chemotherapy drug) combined with standard chemotherapy (capecitabine, oxaliplatin, or FOLFOX)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new first-line treatment option for advanced stomach cancer, potentially improving survival and tumor shrinkage.
What could go wrong
This is an early-to-mid stage trial (phase 2/3) and the drug combination may cause significant side effects. It may not prove more effective than current standard treatments.
