New stitch technique may reduce C-Section scar defects

NCT ID NCT07229222

First seen Nov 14, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tested if a specific stitching method during a first C-section could reduce the formation of a 'niche' (a small defect) in the uterine scar. 380 women having their first C-section were randomly assigned to receive either the new stitching method or the standard one. The researchers then used ultrasound six months later to check for niches, aiming to find a better way to perform C-sections and improve long-term uterine health.
