Can a simple hormone test predict uterine cancer risk?

NCT ID NCT05651282

First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a two-step screening process could identify postmenopausal women at higher risk for endometrial (uterine) cancer. First, researchers used a risk model to find women with a 10-year risk of 2% or more or a BMI over 34.9. Those women then took a short course of a hormone medication to see if it caused withdrawal bleeding, which can signal abnormal cell growth. The study also tested a self-collected vaginal sample method to potentially reduce the need for biopsies in the future. The goal was to see if this screening approach and a lifestyle program were practical and acceptable to participants.
