New pill tested to save sight in rare genetic disorder

NCT ID NCT04355689

Summary

This study is testing whether an oral medication called NPI-001 can help slow down vision loss in adults with Usher syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects both hearing and sight. About 49 participants will take either the real drug or a placebo (a pill with no medicine) for two years. Researchers will measure changes in the eye's sensitivity to light to see if the treatment is working.
