Organ shortage crisis: new study probes why 37% of families refuse donation

NCT ID NCT07345975

First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study aims to understand why families refuse organ donation when asked, even though most French people support it. Researchers will interview relatives of 100 brain-dead patients in intensive care to find out if the refusal comes from the patient, the family, or confusion. The goal is to reduce refusals and help more people receive life-saving transplants.
