First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study aims to understand how the brain controls feelings of itch and pain, including the effects of placebo (fake treatment) and nocebo (negative expectation). Thirty healthy adults will have creams applied to their forearms to trigger itch and pain, and they will rate their sensations. The goal is to learn more about these sensations, not to treat any condition.
